Overall had an amazing race today and enjoyed every second of the race the support in the Olympic park was amazing!
The swim for a start I couldn’t get into a rhythm but managed to settle into a good enough swim for me!
For the bike I was just surprised I was not the last out the water in my age group. I managed to cycle hard for 3/4km catch up with another GB athlete and managed to work together catching a few GB and Austrian athletes. Ended up with a group of 12 in the end was an amazing experience and being part of the first AG European draft legal race was a pleasure. Towards the end there was lack of communication and as I technically started the group I left the group with 1km to go to make sure I was first into transition.
An amazing T2 for me with no issues and taking 25th for T2 out of 1200 athletes .
Onto the run by now it was roasting I managed to just just over 20 minutes wanted to be under 20 minutes but with a massive hill and heat I’m happy with my overall performance.
Overall buzzing to just be here and compete at this level. I gave it everything as some of the screen shots I’ve been sent of the live suggest .
23rd in my age group out of 37 and 221st overall out of 1200 people! Happy I didn’t come last and held my own against some of the best In Europe!
Onto the next one.
Great day out at Monikie for the Scottish Sprint Championships and World Sprint Qualifers.
Had a great race still improving in all disciplines, but a super stacked race and AG group left me in 6th in my AG. But happy with my overall performance.
After looking though all the results for the World Sprint Championships I have qualified in 3rd place for next year buzzing .
I finished 3rd in my age group this year , think I finished 4th in the next age group for next year so automatically qualified for team GB AG next year in sprint distance will confirm once results are confirmed in a few weeks time. 33rd overall out of 268 . With some mental fast people and someone that just got news today they are going to the commonwealth games.
Had a magic swim it was full of weed like Romania so that played well for me as so many people where panicking ! Out the water in sub 10 minutes but course looks short on Strava 600 instead of 750 .
Onto the bike had a tough time as took my road bike and it was flat no hills so wrong bike for the day but getting the practice in for Germany next month!
Onto the run and I enjoyed it so much over taking plenty people and having a negative split on the second lap so a great day! Gave it everything I could had a smile on my face all the way round great day all round !
Thanks to all my sponsors for the support .
What a crazy 48 hours ! From landing back in the uk straight from Romania. Then deciding to not let my entry to Leeds sprint go to waste!
Leeds Sprint distance was great! Smiling from ear to ear the whole way round, had a great swim improving from Romania.
Jumped on the bike and found my legs this time and smashed the bike round the whole course not getting over taken !
Onto the run , a bit of fatigue starting to set in but still comfortably ran sub 19 minute 5k off the bike.
5th overall and 1st in age group ! Overall great race and enjoyed that one far too much!
Offshore tomorrow morning a bit of rest from the training then get ready for the European sprint qualifiers at Woodhorn in 4 weeks time
Well what a day , I had a magic swim for me. For not having a wetsuit for the first time plus the lake was full of weed I went in and gave the swim everything and came out the water 4th in my age group 20th overall. I couldn’t be happier!
Into T1 fast transition for me with flying mount out of T1 2nd in age group 7th overall.
Onto the bike, managed the flying mount and set off no problem. Only to find I had no legs. From the swim course to the start of the bike laps I had already contemplated stopping (this is only 4km to the start). I think between the heat of 29 degrees and a later start while not nailing my nutrition I was gone . I managed some how to stay on the bike and finish as strong as I could. The bike course was brutal but had its fun fast down sections ! By now I was down to 5th in age group and 51 overall!
T2 was a very long one and with tired legs was longer than I would of liked 4th age group and 21 overall.
Onto the run again another brutal course had to walk some of the sections as I was not catching people while running up the hill and wasting energy!
Finished 5th in age group and 48th overall .
Overall I am absolutely buzzing to have competed at this level, I’m glad I managed to finish in the end as I went through every emotion possible over the race! I have learned so much from this and hope to take it into my next races.
Looking forward to a chill day tomorrow before flying back to see my family on Friday !
Want to say a thank you to all my sponsors for helping me in many ways to get me to the event and and sorting equipment also.
